Genesis Financial ("Genesis," "we," "us") is a veteran-owned commercial finance firm serving small and mid-sized businesses nationwide. You trust us with sensitive business and financial information, and we treat that trust as the core of the relationship. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
Depending on the services you use, we may collect:
- Contact and business information — your name, business name, email address, phone number, and details about your business (industry, time in business, entity type).
- Financial information you provide — revenue figures, financial statements, tax documents, bank statements, credit profile information, and other documents needed to evaluate financing options or provide CFO services.
- Connected-account data — if you choose to connect accounts to your CFO portal, transaction and balance data from your bank (via Plaid) and accounting data from QuickBooks or your bookkeeping system. These connections are read-only: we can see the numbers; we cannot move money.
- Website and portal usage data — standard technical information such as pages visited, device and browser type, and login activity, used for security and to improve the service.
2. How we use your information
- To evaluate and place financing requests with lenders in our network — only at your direction.
- To provide fractional CFO services, including reporting, analysis, and strategy sessions.
- To support certification, registration, and contract-related work you engage us for.
- To operate, secure, and improve the AI CFO portal. AI features in the portal organize transactions, flag items for review, summarize activity, and draft reports — all reviewed by a person before they drive decisions.
- To communicate with you about your engagement and, with your consent, about services that may help your business.
- To meet legal, regulatory, and audit obligations.
We do not sell your personal or business financial information. Ever.
3. GLBA — how financial information is safeguarded
Because we handle nonpublic personal financial information, we maintain safeguards consistent with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and its Safeguards Rule, including:
- Encryption of data in transit and at rest (AES-256).
- Multi-factor authentication on every portal login.
- Role-based access — you see only your own data, and internal access is limited to the people who need it to serve you.
- SOC 2-compliant infrastructure with access logging.
- Read-only bank connections through Plaid; access credentials are tokenized and encrypted — we never see or store your bank login.
In short: your financial data is used to serve your engagement, shared only as described below, and protected with bank-level controls.
4. When we share information
We share information only in these situations:
- With lenders and funding sources — when you ask us to place a financing request, we share the deal package you've approved with lenders whose programs fit. That is the service.
- With service providers — vendors that help us operate (such as Plaid for bank connectivity, Intuit for QuickBooks sync, and our hosting and email providers), bound to use the data only to provide their service.
- With certifying and government bodies — when you engage us for certification or registration support (for example, SAM.gov), we share what the filing requires, with your knowledge.
- As required by law — in response to lawful requests, or to protect our rights, clients, or the public.
5. Calls and texts (TCPA)
We call or text you only with your consent — for example, when you request a call, book a consultation, or agree to receive updates. Consent is not a condition of purchasing any service. You can withdraw consent at any time by replying STOP to any text, telling us on a call, or emailing info@thegenesisfinancial.com. Message and data rates may apply to texts.
6. Email (CAN-SPAM)
Marketing emails from us will always identify Genesis Financial as the sender, use truthful subject lines, and include a working unsubscribe link. Opt-out requests are honored promptly. Transactional emails about your active engagement (documents, reports, account notices) are separate from marketing and continue while you're a client.
7. Third-party connections
Bank connections are powered by Plaid Inc.; their handling of your data is described in the Plaid End User Privacy Policy. QuickBooks connections are governed by Intuit's privacy terms. Scheduling runs through Calendly. We encourage you to review the policies of any third-party service you connect.
8. Data retention
We keep information for as long as needed to serve your engagement and to meet legal, regulatory, and audit requirements, then delete or de-identify it. You may disconnect Plaid or QuickBooks from your portal at any time, which stops new data from syncing.
9. Your choices and rights
- Ask what information we hold about you and request a copy.
- Ask us to correct or delete information, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Opt out of marketing calls, texts, and emails at any time.
- Disconnect linked accounts from your portal at any time.
To exercise any of these, email info@thegenesisfinancial.com or call +1 (469) 701-4892.
10. Children
Our services are for businesses and business owners. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
11. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify active clients directly.
